About Me

At 5 yrs of age, I almost drowned. From 5-9 yrs of age, I was teased and picked on for not knowing how to swim. This pressure and the memory of my experience greatly added to my fear of the water. My sister's best friend had the compassion and patience to educate me on how to be safe and have fun in the water. I understand first hand about fear of water, and how to overcome it. At age 12, I taught myself how to surf, and by age 16 I made the High School Swim Team. I went on to become a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor for the county of Los Angeles, and the City of Santa Monica for 20 yrs. I naturally gravitated towards Children with Special Needs, and I continue to have great success using the water to "Free" them up. In addition, I spent 2 years working with the YMCA masters swim program. Then, I was offered the position of Aquatic Director at the Brentwood Country Club for 2 yrs. For more personalized lessons, I designed and installed a pool for my home in 2010. It is designed to be progressive and confidence building. I keep the temperature between 80-89 degrees Fahrenheit so the student can focus on the lesson and not on trying to stay warm.

I've taught swimming for over 30 years, and I will never retire.
